The bachelor’s degree in psychology in addictions at Purdue Global is designed for those who want to pursue careers that assist people whose lives are affected by substance abuse, or who suffer from other potentially detrimental behavioral addictions such as gambling.

With a bachelor’s degree in psychology in addictions, you could pursue certain positions in schools, government, and nonprofits organizations, ranging from small agencies, halfway houses, and other assistance facilities to larger places of employment such as hospitals and corporate treatment centers.

Optional National Certified Addiction Counselor, Level I and II Certification

As a graduate of the Bachelor of Science in Psychology in Addictions, you will have completed the coursework required to sit for the optional National Certification Commission for Addictions Professionals' (NCC AP) National Certified Addiction Counselor, Level I and II certification examinations.

Optional National Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (NCPRSS) Certification

Upon completion of specific program requirements, and if you meet the organization’s additional requirements, you may be eligible to obtain the optional National Certification Commission for Addiction Professionals (NCC AP) National Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (NCPRSS) certification. Refer to Purdue Global's State Licensure and Certifications page for state-specific requirements. Applicants will also need to complete additional requirements to take the optional NCAC examination(s). Students are highly encouraged to visit www.NAADAC.org for additional state-specific licensure requirements.

Experiential Learning Savings:  In 2021–2022, incoming Purdue Global students who passed EL206 and submitted a portfolio for evaluation earned an average of 33 quarter credit hours toward their Purdue Global undergraduate degrees. Based on these experiential learning credits, tuition savings for nonmilitary students were on average $10,743.00. Tuition savings calculated as 33 quarter credit hours x standard tuition rate of $371.00 = $12,243.00 - $1,500.00 course fee = $10,743.00. Savings for students vary depending on the student’s individual prior learning experience. Savings for 2021–2022 incoming Indiana students who passed EL206 and submitted a portfolio for review were $9,700.00. Savings for 2021–2022 incoming military students who passed EL206 and submitted a portfolio for review ranged from $3,945.00 to $6,090.00.
