What is international public health?

International public health promotes improved outcomes for health and well-being on a worldwide scale. It emphasizes the importance of preventive care and treating chronic conditions for aging patients across the globe. At the same time, health care initiatives focused on fighting epidemics and pandemics are also essential international public health efforts. In this field, you can:

  • Create effective public health practices within the principles of equity, ethics and sustainable development.
  • Work to improve infrastructure to provide public health, preventative and clinical services to communities.

Is public health a good field to go into?

Pursuing a career in public health gives you the chance to support change that has a meaningful impact on the health of people around the world. The United Nations expects member states to achieve universal health coverage by 2030, which will require an expansion of public health and clinical health professionals and programs in many countries. This and other factors have caused the demand for international public health workers to increase over the past decade and into the future.
