The program is designed to equip you with skills to address new issues and topics within public service. You’ll take multidisciplinary courses that explore communications, reporting, time management, psychology, counseling and law enforcement.

You can earn a master’s level teaching certification and a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) or Master of Education (MEd) degree. To apply, you must hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum 2.75 GPA or 3.00 GPA, respectively.

When you use your military benefits and apply our Military Scholarship, your out-of-pocket tuition expense is extremely affordable.

GI Bill® Programs

Options include the Post-9/11 GI Bill®, Forever GI Bill®, Montgomery GI Bill®, Veteran Educational Assistance Program (VEAP) and more.

Transfer Credits

Transfer between 60 and 90 semester hours to an undergraduate degree or 9 semester hours to a graduate degree from prior coursework.

Military Tuition Assistance

Active-duty, National Guard and reserve students may be eligible to utilize DoD TA — it covers tuition expenses up to $250 per credit hour.

Credit for Your Military Training

UWA awards credit for military training, professional military education, and credit by examination (CLEP and DSST). Service members could earn up to 30 hours toward the BS in Technology or the BS in Public Safety.

UWA Military Connect Scholarship

UWA extends our Military Connect Scholarship to active-duty military students, Guard and reserve service members, veterans, spouses and dependents. When you combine the lowered tuition rates from the scholarship and layer in your military benefits, your out-of-pocket tuition expense could be very affordable.

Alabama National Guard Education Assistance Program

ANGEAP provides $5,080 for up to 120 academic hours per semester for tuition and fees not covered by VA education benefits. To qualify for the program, you must be an Alabama National Guard service member enrolled in an Alabama state-supported school.
